Along side of individual sessions, you are invited to participate in a myriad of group process experiences that are offered throughout the year. Because even though the details of our lives may be unique and dynamic, the root of what’s needed to heal often times is the same, I have found that health and wholeness happens exponentially in a group (especially circles of women - which have had an immense healing impact since the beginning of time).
Connection, belonging and empowerment will be the impetuses to our journey.
Those who wish to join in the group process without individual therapy will be welcomed and assessed on a case by case basis. Depending on the group process, each client will be required to meet with Jackie at least once for an intake so that both client and therapist can engage in dialogue about their interest and readiness for that particular group process. Any educational/experiential workshops will be open to all without an intake.
WHY GROUP THERAPY? WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Groups provide support. Hearing from others with similar issues helps you see that you’re not alone in having challenges. Groups help you remember that you are not alone.
Groups provide a sounding board. Hearing from other people can be very beneficial, specifically when it is facilitated in a way that fosters healthy giving and receiving feedback. You will receive a wider range of perspectives and help you relate to the problems more effectively.
Groups offer an “in the moment” opportunity to explore how you relate to the world around you.
Groups teach you about yourself. Every other person in the group, not just the facilitator, offers a mirror for you to see yourself and therein offer a pathway to understanding your experience more intimately. By utilizing “mirrors” through other people or situations, we uncover the blind spots that may be blocking your ability to overcome your problems.
Group therapy costs less than individual counseling. Group therapy is much more cost effective in that you receive more sessions and experiences for same or less financial investment.
